I just received the first draft of the dash plaques for our car show.

I think they turned out great.

Bring your show car to our show on June 17th, and get yours!

Car Show for Nursing Home Residents

Posted in Car Shows: General Info on January 26th, 2010 by Stewart

I am a nurse, and I work in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

I really enjoy interacting with the people who live there.

We have some truly amazing residents!

Back in 2006, we (a few residents and myself) thought it would be a good idea to have a car show.  Many of us “car guys” talk about cars and everything car related, so it was only natural to have a car show.

This year will be our Fifth Annual Car Show.

Here are some pics from past events:

2006 – Our First Show!

2007 – More cars in attendance!  Nice!

2008 – Even MORE cars attended!

2009 – Our Fourth and biggest yet!

These shows are really a lot of fun.

We fire up our big charcoal grille, and provide and lunch for everybody.

In addition to the cars, and the great lunch, we have popcorn and refreshments going on all day…

We have family members who bring in cars to show, and even past residents who come back just for the show!

We schedule the show in June, on the Wednesday before Father’s Day.

Some of the residents are already talking about this years show…

I can’t wait!

Car Show Display – “Don’t Touch” Dash Sign

Posted in Car Shows: General Info on January 17th, 2010 by Stewart

I had a dash display sign made for the RoadMonster.

I used a copy of the Dwayne Vance artwork.

Here is the proof:

Here is the finished product:

The guys at Car Show Depot did a nice job on this.

I provided the image of the car.  They did all the rest, including the text, layout, editing, and of course, cutting out the acrylic sign, and attaching it to a nice base.  Very high end work for a modest price.

They make very nice car show display boards too if you are looking for someone to make you a professional show display.

Tool Kits & Trunk Stuff

Posted in Car Shows: General Info on January 15th, 2010 by Stewart

I put together a couple of tool kits for the RoadMonster.  I had my buddy Cesar embroider the Buick Motorsports logo on them.

In keeping with the color theme, I purchased Craftsman Professional tools, as they match the color theme quite nicely.

I’ve got a complete Craftsman Professional metric socket set, screwdrivers, pliers, box wrenches, and Allen wrenches.

Having a show car is nice, because the judges like accessories.  As a result, I’ve got pretty much everything I’ll need for any repairs on the road.

I keep other tools and parts in the storage compartments in the trunk.

Also, I’ve got a couple of trunk bags, also embroidered, that I keep all my car show detail supplies, and other misc car show supplies in.

We keep a first aid kit as well.

My friend Cesar also embroidered the spare tire cover, and this hat too.

The nice thing about owning a big car like this, is that I can fit all the stuff listed above, plus six chairs, our car show canopy, a cooler, car show sign, an even bigger detail bag, weights for the canopy, plus whatever other stuff we pile in for the day.

In addition, we usually have 4-5 people loaded up.

Try THAT in a Corvette!

The RoadMonster Mascot

Posted in Car Shows: General Info on January 9th, 2010 by Stewart

This is our mascot.  Our very own “RoadMonster” if you will.

This came about back in 2006 when our family went on vacation to Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure.

While at Disney’s California Adventure, my daughter decided to play one of the a carnival type free-throw basketball games.

This was pretty difficult to win, as evidenced by all the missed shots that we saw.  When it was Sam’s turn to play, she was surrounded by three college age basketball players.  They were all trying as hard as they could to make a free throw.  As you may know, winning these games is not easy.  None of the college guys made a free throw.  Sam did.

Sam won a stuffed toy.  In fact, she ended up winning three of them.

I forgot to mention that Sam played Varsity Basketball…

Anway, the prizes were these “monsters” that you see above.

She decided that they looked like a RoadMonster…

(My friend Nes did a vexel image for me, seen below)

Now you know the story behind the furry blue guy in the trunk!

Stop & Smell the Roadsters 2009 062

Carousel Cruise August 15, 2009 088

We’ve collected a good batch of dash plaques from the cruise-ins and shows we’ve attended in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.  Funny thing is that we don’t have a single one on the dash…
