More Tavis Highlander Art…

Posted in RoadMonster Art on May 22nd, 2010 by Stewart

One of my favorite vehicles at the Salem Roadster Show was Tavis Highlander’s 1953 Willys powered by a 6.1 liter SRT8 Hemi.

OK…

Don’t tell anyone, but it was my favorite vehicle there…

This artwork that Tavis Highlander did is amazing as usual.

I just put it into an 11 x 17″ frame.

(sorry about the reflection.)

I bought some other prints from Tavis as well.

I am going to use them in the garage when I repaint it this summer.

In fact, my garage and home office should look like a Highlander Concept Rendering gallery soon!

Thanks again Tavis!

I’ve said it many times:

Tavis Highlander is the next Chip Foose!

Congrats on the article Tavis!

You deserve it!

p.s.  If you have a project car, or are even thinking about building a hobby car, you really should consider having Tavis do a concept rendering for you!

Highlander Concept Rendering Framed Prints

Posted in RoadMonster Art on May 9th, 2010 by Stewart

I finally bought frames so I could hang the Tavis Highlander sketches of my 1994 Buick Roadmaster (aka The RoadMonster).

I chose glass frames with a minimal or very thin “frame” to them.

The talented Tavis Highlander did the artwork on either side of the big framed picture.

On the left is a black and white sketch of the RoadMonster with our RoadMonster plush Mascot.

On the right is the same sketch, but in full color.

He did a total of four versions of this sketch.

(The big picture in the center was done by the famous Dwayne Vance.)

Tavis did these sketches below as well.

I asked Tavis to do a cartoon-like-sketch of the RoadMonster reminiscent of automotive cartoons of the 1960′s and 1970′s.

He did an EXCELLENT job!

In fact, he NAILED IT!

Both the Buick Roadmonster and our “Mascot” look absolutely amazing!

Tavis has some SERIOUS talent!

The Tavis Highlander prints look great with my other RoadMonster art.

Soon I will have Tavis Highlander at Highlander Concept Rendering do some more sketches of the RoadMonster and a concept rendering and some cartoons of the Rat Rod…

I cannot wait!

Highlander Concept Rendering Prints

Posted in RoadMonster Art on April 19th, 2010 by Stewart

Tavis Highlander printed out all four sketches in 8.5 x 11 & 11 x 17.

He also included an 11 x 17 print of his Willys for me.

I am going to get all of them framed.

The small RoadMonster prints for my media room, and the large prints are for the garage.

I am going to give the garage a repaint this summer, and re-do the walls a bit.

Instead of all the misc posters and signs, I am going to have nice framed artwork.

Thanks again Tavis!

p.s.  Tavis at HCR will be doing more artwork for me.

I want him to do a concept rendering and a cartoon sketch of the Rat Rod.

Also, I am going to have him do some artwork for this website.

When I asked Tavis Highlander to do the sketch of the RoadMonster…

I sent him a pic of the Mascot plush that we keep in the car.

This is the sketch he did.

Isn’t it great?!?!?!

Tavis Highlander Sketch of the RoadMonster

Posted in Favorite Vendors, RoadMonster Art on April 4th, 2010 by Stewart

As promised…

Here is the sketch:

I asked Tavis of Highlander Concept Rendering to do a cartoon-like sketch of the RoadMonster.

I wanted something like the cartoons of the 1960′s and 1970′s, where the car is kinda squished and deformed…

I think he did an EXCELLENT job.

Have you ever seen a “grandpa car” look so cool????

Please take a moment to check out Tavis’ website.

Tavis did four versions of this sketch for me.

Stay tuned as I post up the other three versions.

Thanks again Tavis!

Getting Animated…

Posted in RoadMonster Art on February 7th, 2010 by Stewart

Sam has been working on more RoadMonster art.

She took the vexel image done by my friend Nes…

…and added the eyes and mouth.

The eyes and mouth are based on Flo from the movie Cars.

Radiator Springs, here we come!

“Cars” Art by Sam – Final Draft

Posted in RoadMonster Art on January 22nd, 2010 by Stewart

Here is the final draft of the Cars art that Sam did of the RoadMonster.

The RoadMonster looks ready to drive to Radiator Springs

Here’s how this this came about:

I found a tutorial on how to animate your car based on the movie Cars.

I don’t know how to use photoshop, but my daughter Sam does.

I asked her if she would tackle the project for me.

She happily agreed.

The mouth and eyes are from Flo, the owner of Flo’s V8 Cafe.

Sam had to do a lot of reshaping & resizing on the mouth.

Once she got all the sizes and angles correct, she added eye lashes, eye lids, and a hint of the RoadMonster’s blue for the upper lip.

I plan to have Starr from InkFX print this on a thick, white, sign material to use for the car show display.

Thanks Sam!
