Eagle Auto Electric Inc.

Posted in Favorite Vendors on September 6th, 2010 by Stewart

I did a post last year about upgrading the RoadMonster’s starter.

That post discussed installing a Corvette starter in a B-Body.

Starter upgrade post.

Since this post, I’ve referred MANY people to the vendor I used.

This vendor is Steve at Eagle Auto Electric in Northridge, California.

Steve offers EXCELLENT customer service.

His products are EXCELLENT too.

He also offers LIGHTNING FAST shipping.

I bought a brand new AC Delco Corvette gear reduction starter…

…outright.

NO CORE CHARGE necessary.

In addition, his prices are AMAZING!

This is the starter that I bought from Steve and installed in the RoadMonster.

It’s a beautiful part, and it works perfectly.

If you need a starter or alternator

I highly recommend Steve and Eagle Auto Electric.

Check his prices.

You will save a lot of money on a quality product.

Not having to pay out money for a core charge is nice too.

Having the part delivered to your door quickly is really convenient.

AirCooled Motors

Posted in Favorite Vendors on August 26th, 2010 by Stewart

AirCooled Motors is owned and operated by my friend Jeff Campbell.AirCooled Motors specializes in everything for the Air Cooled VW.

“Everything” meaning everything from an oil change, valve adjustment, or tune up…

…to a complete show quality restoration.

Rob and I dropped off the ’64 Beetle today…

…and I took a few photos of Jeff’s shop.

Jeff’s shop has two lifts and four bays.

I am very impressed!

Dave and Jeff just restored this beautiful white Westfalia Camper Van.

It is gorgeous!

This last photo is of a customer’s car on one of the lifts.

I should have taken a photo of the wiring Jeff is doing on this car.

Jeff is completely re-wiring this car.

The quality of Jeff’s work is second to none!

The wiring on this car is a work of art!

Jeff and his dad Dave are Volkswagen Gurus.

The first creation I saw of theirs is this camouflaged Bus…

…that was at the shop today.

I absolutely LOVE this bus!

I saw it three years ago at a local show.

(This bus inspired me to build my military themed rat rod.)

Seeing this bus got me planning the rat rod…

…and then I saw this pair of their creations.

These cars are so cool…

…that I seriously lost it.

I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning.

I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by these VW’s.

I love everything about these cars:

The attention to detail, the theme, the accessories, and the overall build quality.

These are my kind of guys!

Here are some pics I took of their rides:

Jeff and his dad Dave are as enthusiastic about VW’s as I am about my projects.

I highly recommend Jeff and AirCooled Motors.

If you own a Bug, Bus, Karmann Ghia, Squareback, or ANY aircooled VW….

…you need to contact Jeff at AirCooled Motors.

Address:  430 Main Street.  Dallas, Oregon

(Right across from the Bowling Alley on Walnut St.)

Phone:  (503) 559-2100

Do yourself a favor.

Stop by the shop and say “hi” to Jeff.

He’ll take excellent care of your VW.

I promise you this…

…you won’t be disappointed.

-Stewart

p.s.  Stay tuned as I add three aircooled VW’s…

…to my own personal fleet.

One for Rob.  One for Sam.  And one for me.

All of them will spend time at AirCooled Motors…

…in Jeff’s capable hands.

Speedway Motors Customer Service…

Posted in Favorite Vendors on April 26th, 2010 by Stewart

I recently placed my first order to Speedway Motors in years.

The parts I ordered were perfect, packed extremely well, and the shipping was FAST!

I had read that the owner, “Speedy” Bill Smith, reads all the customer surveys.

It’s true!

When Speedway requested my feedback on my recent order, I basically told them I was happy with my order, and that I was happy to be back, now that I have another old school hot rod.

To my surprise, I received another package in the mail from Speedway.

They sent me a really cool mouse pad and a bunch of stickers, with a note telling me “welcome back!”.

Well, I am back, and I will definitely be back for more!

Thanks Bill and Speedway Motors!

Scentsy Wickless Candles…

Posted in Favorite Vendors on April 22nd, 2010 by Stewart

My wife Christine likes Scentsy wickless candles A LOT!

She used to like traditional candles, but then she found Scentsy.

If you are not aware of what Scentsy is, well it’s like having a scented candle, without the flame.

The wax is melted in a special holder that is heated by a light bulb.

The Scentsy wax comes in MANY different scents.

We have ours going every day, and the house smells great!

My daughter and mother in law also like Scentsy.

I know that they are not the only ones, as I see Scentsy booths set up at a lot of car shows.  In fact, there was a Scentsy booth set up at the Portland Roadster Show last weekend.

If you are looking for Scentsy products, look no further.

Cherise Frey can set you up with everything you need.

Check out her website for more info.

Christine, Susan, and Sam buy all of their Scentsy products from Cherise.

I thought I’d share her Cherise’s contact info so you can try Scentsy too.

Cherise is an trusted vendor with excellent customer service!

When I asked Tavis Highlander to do the sketch of the RoadMonster…

I sent him a pic of the Mascot plush that we keep in the car.

This is the sketch he did.

Isn’t it great?!?!?!

Tavis Highlander Sketch of the RoadMonster

Posted in Favorite Vendors, RoadMonster Art on April 4th, 2010 by Stewart

As promised…

Here is the sketch:

I asked Tavis of Highlander Concept Rendering to do a cartoon-like sketch of the RoadMonster.

I wanted something like the cartoons of the 1960′s and 1970′s, where the car is kinda squished and deformed…

I think he did an EXCELLENT job.

Have you ever seen a “grandpa car” look so cool????

Please take a moment to check out Tavis’ website.

Tavis did four versions of this sketch for me.

Stay tuned as I post up the other three versions.

Thanks again Tavis!

Bob’s Rat Rod & T-Bucket Parts

Posted in Favorite Vendors on March 27th, 2010 by Stewart

I found where I’ll be buying the suspension parts for the rat rod.

Bob’s Rat Rod & T-Bucket Parts located in Salem, Oregon.

Bob has everything I need to start the suspension overhaul on the car.

I’ll be adding Bob’s front disc brake caliper brackets, front and rear shock mounts, and headlight mounts, to start.

Bob also sells on eBay:

Bob’s eBay Store

You can use his eBay Store as a reference, and just order directly from his website.

I’ll be purchasing some parts in a couple of weeks.

Stay tuned as I’ll document these modifications right here.
