2010 Calendar…

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 16th, 2010 by Stewart

The promoters of the Salem Roadster Show gave each of the participants a personalized calendar.

Here is mine:

In addition, we received a dash plaque.

After receiving the Jacket, Calendar, Pizza Dinner, and everything else…

…I didn’t expect a dash plaque.

I really like my dash plaque collection!

Each one brings back fond memories of a different event.

This new one brings my total collection to thirty dash plaques!

I can’t wait for the next show!

Some of my favorite pics…

…taken of the RoadMonster last weekend.

My wife Christine took these pics yesterday.

She was trying all the different settings on the camera.

She took these as well.

This last picture really gives the show a Valentine’s Day feel…

…with the red hues and the heart shaped balloons in the background.

Thanks Chris for all of your help and support!

You took some really great photos!

Salem Roadster Show – Day Two

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 14th, 2010 by Stewart

This was a great show!

Over 100 excellent cars.

Here are some photos from Sunday February 14th:

Here is my son Rob with his favorite car in the show, this red Impala…

My nephews Brett and Reese came to the show today…

Susan my Mother-In-Law attended as well.  We had a good time!

My Brother-In-Law Scott was here too…

He spent a lot of time at the Orange Mopar Gasser.

I don’t blame him.  That car is amazing!

Well, it’s over.

The 4th Annual Invitational Salem Roadster Show has come to an end.

The show promoters Greg and Bob did an EXCELLENT job running this huge event.

All I heard from spectators was that this show was even better than last year’s show, and that show was great.

I was certainly impressed with this show.

I’ve got some new ideas for the next project.

I have met some great vendors that I will be working with.

I have a goal of the next project car being good enough to be invited to this show.

Meeting Tavis and David Highlander was a highlight of this show for me.

I will have Highlander Concept Rendering assist me in designing my next project.

Finally, to the show promoters Greg and Bob…

A very sincere “Thank You!” for inviting us.

I truly appreciate being invited to this prestigious event!

Salem Roadster Show – Day One

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 13th, 2010 by Stewart

The show is on!

And what a show!

Wow!

What an experience to be surrounded by such automotive excellence!

We are having a great time!

Met a lot of really nice people.

I had to get a pic of myself with Tavis and David Highlander from Highlander Concept Rendering.

(From left to right:  David Highlander, me, and Tavis Highlander.)

Tavis is the next Chip Foose in my honest opinion.

I wanted to have Tavis autograph the February 2010 Car Craft Magazine article featuring his concept Mustang, but I couldn’t find the magazine.

Tavis and David did autograph a Salem Roadster Show poster for me.

I am going to frame it and hang it in the garage…

Take a look at Tavis’ website in my favorite links.

This guy does some amazing work!

Highlander Concept Rendering

If you read Car Craft or Hot Rod Magazines, you have seen his work.

Another highlight today is that I was interviewed by a freelance reporter by the name of Sheldon Traver, who writes for a column in our local paper, The Statesman Journal.

He contributes to the column that runs every Sunday by Cars.com.

He took pics of me and the RoadMonster after the interview for the article.

The story should run in March or April.

Stay tuned…

The Salem Roadster Show Participants Jacket

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 12th, 2010 by Stewart

I received my Salem Roadster Show jacket today.

It’s a letterman style jacket with black wool body and black leather sleeves.

Has a sponsor embroidered on the front:

Each jacket was sponsored by a different company.

Colgan Chiropractic Clinic sponsored my jacket.

It’s embroidered on the back too:

Salem Roadster Show Award Winner

I’ve seen people wearing these jackets at past car shows…

The first two years, the jackets had red sleeves.

The third and fourth year jackets are all black.

I cannot believe that I actually earned a jacket of my own.

I feel like the kid at Christmas getting the BB Gun I always dreamed of…

I feel like the dad too, as my jacket is a Major Award!

I want to thank Colgan Chiropractic Clinic for sponsoring my jacket.

I will wear the jacket with pride!

Without sponsors like Colgan Chiropractic Clinic, this show would not be possible, and these jackets would not be provided to the participants.

Thank you Colgan Chiropractic Clinic!

I really appreciate it.

Pre-Show Set Up…

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 12th, 2010 by Stewart

…is almost complete.

Here are some more pics:

This Willys seen below left is amazing.  More on this ride later…

Mark’s Pontiac pictured below looks gorgeous as usual…

Check out these cut out flames!

I promised more on the Willys.

This Willys SRT8 is one of my favorites at this show.

I love EVERYTHING about it.

Designed by Highlander Concept Rendering.

Built by David and Tavis Highlander.

Here is their booth:

Here is the LINK to their site.

Also see my favorite links.

I plan to do an in depth post about Highlander Concept Rendering and Tavis Highlander’s amazing work.

I’ve got to get some better pics.

Do yourself a favor and go to his site and check out his work.

His work is second to none!

We’ll be at the show all day tomorrow.

Stay tuned for more pics and info.

Pizza!

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 12th, 2010 by Stewart

We are headed back to the Fairgrounds.

The show promoters are providing pizza to everyone.

I’ll take some more pics tonight.

Fifteen hours and forty three minutes to go…

We are THERE!

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 12th, 2010 by Stewart

The RoadMonster is all set up inside the Oregon State Fairgrounds Americraft Center (formerly Jackman Long) Building.

We are parked by the North Exit of the building.

We drove there at about ten o’clock.

We got lucky:  No rain.

The roads were wet and the car got wet, but not very dirty.

Rob detailed the car while we were in line outside.

We were behind a long line of trailered cars.

Once we got inside, and we were waiting to be directed to our spot, we completed most of the final detailing.

Once we were in our spot, Rob did the finishing touches…

Thanks Rob!

I appreciate all of the detailing you have done this week!

We opted not to go with a car show carpet.  I am glad I didn’t, as I saw at least one exactly like the one I was going to buy…

The car show signs look really nice.  I didn’t mount the black oval sign to the other sign because it was blocking the front wheel / brake and the fender emblems too much.

The show promoters are providing stanchions.

As you can see, there are some AMAZING cars there…

Set up is today from 9AM – 9PM.

The show opens tomorrow at 9AM.

See you there!

The RoadMonster is READY!

Posted in Shows: Salem Roadster Show on February 11th, 2010 by Stewart

That’s right.

We just finished the final detailing…

This car has NEVER been so clean.

She doesn’t look too shabby for a 1994 Buick Roadmaster Sedan…

I joked with my son and told him we should do this amount of detailing before EVERY show…

I think I scared him.

Tomorrow we drive the car to the Oregon State Fairgrounds and get set up for the show.

Hopefully it isn’t raining too hard…

We’ll take pics of the set up tomorrow, and of course we’ll take a bunch of photos of the show itself.

I’ve never participated in an indoor show before, or a multiple day show before, so I really don’t know what to expect.

I am very grateful to be a participant in the 4th Annual Invitational Salem Roadster Show.

Thank you very much Greg and Bob for inviting us!

Advertising…

…for the Salem Roadster Show consists of posters, newspaper ads, radio ads, and these stickers…

These were attached to the local newspaper today.

Right on the front page.

I cannot wait to get the car there and set up!

By the way…

There is one day, eighteen hours, and 28 minutes to go.
