Night of Fire Car Show 2010

Posted in Shows 2010 on September 5th, 2010 by Stewart

Last Friday was the Night of Fire Car Show.

My buddy Dave and I brought the RoadMonster.

We arrived at 2 pm, and got a nice parking spot.

Some of our friends parked next to us in their beautiful red 1995 BMW.

It was their first time showing the Bimmer…

…and it is ALWAYS fun seeing a car at a show for the first time!

There were so many nice cars and so many nice people…

…that I forgot to take any pictures.

It was if time just flew by…

At 8:30 pm, when the drag cars were to start their engines…

…and the Stage Coach was to shoot flames…

…I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t taken a single picture.

Dave was there to save the day, and snapped these pics.

The four dragsters and one funny car surrounding the Jelly Belly Stage Coach all started their engines one by one.

The dragster in the near left in the pics was the last one to start, and was it LOUD!

The the shots you see above were of the finale.

The really odd / cool part was that the Jelly Belly Stage Coach’s exhaust smelled like cinnamon…

…that’s right, the exhaust smells like, cinnamon.

It looked amazing and smelled really good!

What a great car show!

Here is a link showing a video of a past Night of Fire Show.

This was my first time attending the Night of Fire Benefit Car show…

…and it won’t be my last.

The best part of the evening for me was having my buddy Dave…

…our friend Harry, his son Keith, and our other friends all there.

Harry and Keith arrived between four and five, and stayed until 9 pm.

This was Harry’s third car show!

Harry saw all the cars, and talked with a lot of people.

He had a great time!

Not bad for a 91 year old!

p.s.  Thanks Dave for all of these great photos!

The 2010 Stop & Smell The Roadsters Show…

Posted in Shows 2010 on August 29th, 2010 by Stewart

…was today.

We had a great time!

This show is one of my personal favorite outdoor shows…

…simply because of the venue.

The Oregon Garden is absolutely beautiful.

The gardens combined with a variety of show cars makes for an outstanding show.

In addition to the venue, we were accompanied by many of our friends.

We caravaned with our friend Dave in his VW Type 181.

As we were almost there, our friend Al joined our little convoy.

We were able to park the RoadMonster, VW Thing, and El Camino next to each other.

We were parked near our friends Mark & Mary who own a perfect 1930 Pontiac hot rod.

Our friend Wes stopped by, and promises that he will enter his 1950 Ford next year.

I cannot wait until next year so we can gather a huge eclectic caravan to this show!

Here are the RoadMonster, Thing, and ‘Camino.

This is Mark & Mary’s 1930 Pontiac…

…which, by the way, won the 1930′s category.

This Pontiac is one of my all-time-favorite cars.

I think what they did with this car is PERFECT!

Jim’s candy red beauty is another of my favorites.

This car won the Custom category.

The paint on this car is AMAZING!

This Studebaker is out of this world!

I really liked this pair of 1980′s vintage GM G-Bodies…

I also really like Junior’s Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.

This thing is off the hook!

I like these GM D-Bodies as much as I love GM B-Bodies.

Junior has done an INSANE amount of work on this Caddy.

It ROCKS!

This Packard is powered by a Viper V-10.

It won Best of Show.

I wholeheartedly agree!

I would like a photo of this car parked next to…

…Tavis Highlander’s 1953 SRT-8 Willys.

That would be a great shot of two great vehicles!

I really like this late model Mustang.

The owner is a really nice guy…

…and he has one of the best car show display signs I’ve ever seen.

The Mustang is beautiful too!

This car won the 2000′s category.

This Monte Carlo SS was powered by a big block Chevrolet V8.

I think these cars should have come this way stock!

This car won the 1980′s category.

I like this MG a lot.

The hardtop is especially cool!

Here are some more random show shots…

This beauty won the Truck category.

More random shots…

Overall this was a great day!

The weather was really nice.

Not too hot, and not too cold.

It was cloudy, but it did not rain.

Al’s El Camino took the 1970′s class, and…

the RoadMonster won the 1990′s class.

Not a bad day!

Keizer Cars, Coffee, and Harry!

Posted in Shows 2010 on August 28th, 2010 by Stewart

Today we took our friend Harry to his second car show.

Considering that Harry is 91 years old, and this is his only his second car show EVER…

…that is pretty cool!

My buddy Dave Campbell, my daughter Sam, and I thought it would be cool to take Harry to a show, especially since Harry had such a great time at the Avamere Show last week.  He told everyone that last Wednesday’s car show was “the best three hours of his life!”…

Here are some pics of Harry getting ready to go in Dave’s VW Type 181.

One of our therapists Andrew was kind enough to assist Harry into the VW.

With Andrew’s help, Harry felt safe and secure.

Now we are ready to go!

And here we are!

There was a lot to see!

Our friends Wes and Cathy were there with their 1950 Ford.

Harry remembered Wes from the last show.

Harry met lots of nice people.

Dave found a truck that he really liked…

Dave liked this truck so much…

…that he asked the owner to park next to the VW for a photo op.

All too soon…

…it was time to go.

I am pretty sure Harry had a good time!

Harry is enamored with Dave’s VW.

Dave and Harry really hit it off last week.

These two are like two peas in a pod!

It’s been a good week!

Good friends.

Nice cars.

New friends.

And great weather.

What more could one ask for?

-Stewart

p.s. Thanks to everyone who helped out today.

There were MANY players who helped get Harry ready for this.

Thanks a lot!

You guys are great, and you did a great thing!

Avamere Court at Keizer August Show…

Posted in Shows 2010 on August 25th, 2010 by Stewart

…was today.

We had a great turnout.

Our parking lot was full!

Not bad for a Wednesday afternoon!

This was our sixth show in the past five years.

Today’s weather was perfect!

I know the residents had a great time.

I had a great time too!

I saw some friends that I’ve not seen in awhile…

…which was an added bonus to a really good day!

Thanks to everybody who took the time to share their vehicle with us!

-Stewart

p.s.  See you next year on June 15th, 2011!

Stop and Smell The Roadsters 2010

Posted in Shows 2010 on August 11th, 2010 by Stewart

This show is at one of my favorite venues.

This one of the Willamette Valley’s classiest car shows.

It’s a classy venue, but not “snobby”.

This show is one of my all-time-favorite events.

Here is a scan of this year’s flier.

As you can see, the show is on Sunday August 29th.

Hosted at The Oregon Garden in beautiful Silverton, Oregon.

Hours are 10am – 4pm.

Not only is the venue absolutely gorgeous…

…but there is great food and drink as well!

If you can make just one more show this season…

…this is THE ONE to go to IMHO.This will be the RoadMonster’s 3rd Stop & Smell the Roadsters Show.

We are pre-registered, and as far as I know…

…there are still a few spots left for both participants and vendors.

Hope to see you there!
