My “Other” Hobby…

Posted in Miscellaneous on January 31st, 2010 by Stewart

I added a second page to this site to show you my other hobby.

I have a big collection of Science Fiction collectibles.

We have a whole room dedicated to Science Fiction memorabilia.

We call it:

Let me know what you think.

I already know that my wife is a very patient woman.

1994 Buick Dealership Advertising Planner

Posted in History on January 31st, 2010 by Stewart

I collect Buick memorabilia.

One of my favorite items is this 1994 Buick Advertising Planner.

This kit was sent to Buick Dealers to prepare for the 1994 Buick Lineup.

It includes information on National Advertising, how to advertise at the dealership, and even a CD of all the 1994 Buick Radio Ads.

It’s been a great month…

…for ROADMONSTER.ORG

This site was established on December 13th, 2009.

We didn’t add a hit counter until January 1st, 2010.

Since the first of the month, we’ve had over 12,000 hits!

I certainly never expected to have this much activity in the first month…

I just wanted to say “thank you” to everyone who has visited this site.

Thanks for the comments, pingbacks, emails, suggestions, ideas, etc.

Finally, I want to thank my family for their help with this site;  Rob for his technical help, Sam for her artwork, and Chris for her editorial advice.  It’s nice to have something to work on that the whole family is involved with.  I am a lucky guy, as my family supports me at car shows as well.

Thank you EVERYBODY!

I appreciate the support.

Stayton Summer Fest 2009

Posted in Shows 2009 on January 30th, 2010 by Stewart

This was a fun show that we participated in last year.

This is held at the park in Stayton, Oregon.

They have a huge turnout, starting with a pancake breakfast.

The park is beautiful, and we had the perfect spot next to a big oak tree.

I’ll be at the Salem Roadster Show displaying my Buick Roadmaster!

As this is quite possibly the most prestigious show that the RoadMonster will ever be invited to, I am VERY excited.

Honestly, I am still blown away that my humble car was invited.  Any of you who have followed the build of my car know that I never intended to build a show car.  I just wanted to build the car to the best of my abilities.  I was between hobby cars at the time, and I thought a Gran Sport Roadmaster was a good idea, as I really liked the 1994 Impala SS.

When I started out modifying the car, she was my daily driver for the first three years.  And don’t forget, a 1994 Buick Roadmaster is an unusual car to choose to spend a lot of time and money on.  A very unusual car.

Many people just “don’t get it”…

It was just a hobby for me.  I needed to do something with my hands, and build something tangible.  That’s it, really.

If you look at the car’s on the Salem Roadster Show website that attended past shows, you will see why I am so humbled.

These cars truly are The Best Of The Best!

As I am still sometimes questioned when I pull into a car show if I am showing the car, or just looking for parking…

…I am in awe that Greg & Bob invited my car to participate in this show.

The 4th Annual Invitational Salem Roadster Show is an “invitation only” car show.

There are no trophies.  No awards of any kind.  No politics.

Being invited to participate is the award.

All of the participants receive an embroidered leather letterman’s jacket.

Here is the Salem Roadster Show’s website:

MT 11/92 – Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham

Posted in B-Body Articles on January 30th, 2010 by Stewart

Motor Trend introduces the redesigned 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood.

The Cadillac Fleetwood is a family member of the GM B-Bodies.

Technically called a D-Body, she shares the same drivetrain, and essentially the same chassis as her B-Body siblings.

The main difference is that the Fleetwood is longer.

When this new body style was introduced back in 1993, she was longer than a Suburban, and six inches longer than a Lincoln Town Car!

The Fleetwood received the LT1 standard in 1994.

B & D Bodies were made on the same assembly line, at the same time.

I’ve got a couple more articles of the Fleetwood that I’ll post up soon.

Stay tuned…

A friend of mine just sent me these:

I’ve never owned anything made by Hotchkis before.

All I can say is “WOW!”

These parts are automotive artwork, really.

I need to get these installed!

Here is the product info on these parts:

Thanks again my friend!

Electronic Flasher Upgrade

Posted in Restoration & Help on January 29th, 2010 by Stewart

One weak area on the 1990′s B-Bodies is the wiring.

This is especially true of the headlights, turn signals, etc.

One way to reduce the draw on the electrical system, and save the wiring in the steering column, is to upgrade from Standard Flashers to Electronic Flashers for the Turn Signals and Hazard Lights.

This is really easy to do.

Just pull out the old flashers under the dash, and install the new electronic flashers.

Some Buick Roadmaster owners have modified their tail lights to have additional bulbs.  This modification has been known to melt the wiring to the turn signal switch in the steering column.  Switching to electronic flashers is especially important if you do this modification, or you risk over-taxing, overheating, and melting the wiring in the steering column.

Autozone sells a Blazer brand electronic flasher that fits both the turn signals and the hazard flashers.  Blazer Part #FL32.  You’ll need two.

Now, go out and have fun with your new flashers!

Custom “Gran Sport” Floor Mats

In keeping with the Gran Sport Theme for this project…

I had some custom fit embroidered floor mats made.

These match the Buick’s theme quite nicely.
